Malaika Rivers

Founder & President

Malaika Rivers is the Founder & President of Pontem Resources, where she partners with changemakers—from CEOs to city mayors—to design cost-sharing real estate strategies that bring developments and districts to life.

Her clients include professional sports teams, commercial centers, and local governments. Notable projects include Centennial Yards, Miami Freedom Park, and Trilith—all of which draw upon her experience with the Atlanta Braves’ The Battery Atlanta, widely regarded as the benchmark for sports-adjacent mixed-use real estate.

With more than three decades of experience across infrastructure development, urban planning, and government engagement, Malaika brings a vital cross-sector perspective. She identifies opportunities to address complex development challenges through public-private partnerships that include grant strategies, tax districts, and stakeholder engagements. She is especially known for her expertise with Community Improvement Districts (CIDs), helping clients structure and leverage these powerful tax districts as dedicated funding tools for their developments.

Malaika has been recognized in SBJ’s Power Player/Next Up, 100 Influential Women to Know, Georgia 500, and 25 Power Women to Watch. She received her B.S. from Virginia Tech and her C.M.E. from Harvard Business School.
